THE RAT LINE
About The Rat Line
Every Club Has Stories.
The Rat Line is an independent online community built for members of private golf clubs.
Whether it's celebrating a great experience, asking a question, discussing changes at your club, raising concerns, or sharing ideas, The Rat Line gives golfers a place to have the conversations that often happen quietly after the round—but rarely have a place to be heard.
Our goal isn't to create conflict.
Our goal is to create transparency, accountability, and community.
Why We Built The Rat Line
Private golf clubs are built around relationships.
Most members love their clubs, but every club also has questions, frustrations, suggestions, and stories that often stay behind closed doors.
Sometimes people don't know where to raise concerns. Sometimes they don't feel comfortable speaking publicly. Sometimes they simply want to know: "Am I the only one experiencing this?"
The Rat Line was created to give golfers an independent place to have those conversations respectfully.
More Than Complaints
The Rat Line is not just a complaint website.
Members can discuss what's happening at their club, share positive experiences, ask questions, suggest improvements, recognize outstanding staff or fellow members, report concerns, follow updates from clubs, and celebrate what makes their club great.
We believe the best communities include both praise and constructive criticism.
Built Around Accountability
The Rat Line encourages honest, first-hand experiences. We also believe accountability should apply to everyone.
Golfers are expected to post responsibly. Golf clubs deserve the opportunity to respond. Moderators work to keep discussions respectful and consistent with our community standards.
Our goal is meaningful conversation—not outrage.
Anonymous When You Want It
Not every golfer is comfortable attaching their name to a post. That's why The Rat Line allows members to choose how they participate.
You can post using your username, anonymously, as a verified member while remaining anonymous, as a verified former member, or as a verified guest.
Anonymous posting protects your identity from the community, while helping create an environment where members can speak honestly.
Independent by Design
The Rat Line is an independent platform. We are not owned by, operated by, or affiliated with any golf club, management company, membership organization, or governing body unless explicitly stated.
Course pages exist to support open community discussion. Golf clubs may claim their page to publish announcements and respond to discussions, but they cannot remove criticism simply because they disagree with it.
Fair to Golfers. Fair to Clubs.
Healthy communities require balance.
We believe golfers deserve a voice, clubs deserve the opportunity to respond, discussions should remain respectful, serious allegations should be handled responsibly, and positive experiences deserve recognition just as much as concerns deserve attention.
Every community is stronger when conversations are honest, constructive, and fair.
Our Community Values
Everything we build is guided by four principles:
Transparency — Open conversations help clubs and members better understand one another.
Respect — Disagreement is welcome. Personal attacks are not.
Accountability — Constructive feedback creates better clubs and stronger communities.
Community — Private golf is about more than golf. It's about the people who make each club unique.
